The Lizard-of-the-Nile (Varanus niloticus) is a giant lizard of the Varanidae family.
It is one of the largest lizards in the world, with 1.5 to 2 meters in length, and a close relative of other heavyweights such as the Komodo dragon.
The Varanus niloticus can be found in Africa and was introduced accidentally in Florida.
It has aquatic habits, but is also very skilled on the ground. They are carnivores and typically feed on fish, amphibians, birds, small mammals, large invertebrates and eggs.
